The 'Real Women' of BlackJaQ have their say

   Kali

BlackJaQ continue to be an awesome part of my life and a great contributor to my education in barbershop singing. For all of you out there, if you’re not in a quartet!  Why not??? It will change your life if you let it!

BlackJaQ were thrilled by the support we received for our fundraising efforts to get to Nashville in October last year and we sincerely want to thank everyone who participated or contributed in any way to our journey. Competing in an International quartet competition is an awesome experience and one that is hugely beneficial in so many areas. You are able to take your place and represent your country (What a huge thrill!!), meet other quartetters -  both new to International and experienced, make new friends from all over the world, see some more of the complex and beautiful USA, and continue to learn more of this art form we all love so much!

Carole, Jess, Linda and I celebrated our 5th birthday as BJ in Nashville and we continue to love singing together and learning more about our craft. It’s a never ending story and it’s so great to know that wevcan continue pursuing excellence in this art form for the rest of our lives if we want to!  We’ll never get to the end and it is so much fun along the way. As Lori Dector Wright said so well in the Forward Motion newsletter this month, As each goal is reached a new one is formed, stretching out like a winding path before you …for in the end, true artistry is not a destination but found along the journey.

BlackJaQ are so looking forward to the next chapter in Australian barbershop life with the National Convention being held in only a few short weeks, here in our beautiful state of Western Australia. We would like to wish all competing quartets a fabulous weekend of singing, camaraderie and education.  See you all very soon!

In harmony,

Kali
