Helen Bolton …. Baa-ography |
======================================
Helen Bolton, known affectionately by BlackJaQ as ‘Blacksheep’ or ‘Baa’, has shared the quartet’s journey to success fulfilling many different roles. When BlackJaQ came together, Helen offered to help out with whatever was needed and there ended up being many and varied things to be done…babysitting Jess’s beautiful kids, videoing coaching sessions, photographing, ‘playing audience’, filling up endless bottles/glasses of water …and wine!!!! (after rehearsals, of course!!), catering and more!
In 2005 Helen took on a more ‘formal role’ and is now managing the quartet’s bookings, publicity, website updates (with BILL!!!) and sales of ‘The Nearness of You’ CDs… do you wanna buy one – just email moi! Having been on the Perth Harmony Chorus’s Management team for 4 years, holding positions of Communication Chair and Team Chair, Helen has expertise in these areas, freeing up the quartet members to do what they do best – and that is ‘sing’!
Helen joined the Perth Harmony Chorus(PHC) in 1999 – one of the most life-changing moments in her life as she embarked on opportunities that she had never dreamed of, including representing Australia at four Sweet Adelines International conventions!... and looking forward to many more to in the future! Her recent ‘challenge’ is to take on the position of editor of the PHC website… and Helen thought she the chorus to sing!
When she is not doing ‘barbershop’ stuff, Helen runs a private Speech Pathology Practice. In 2005 she was awarded a Churchill Fellowship to pursue her studies in this area in the USA & Canada. One of the highlights during this trip was to schedule visits to choruses AND participate in the first ‘PartShop’ with Rumor’s Dale Syverson and Peggy Barnes-Gram! WOW! What an experience!
Helen shares a house with Kali & two cats, Charles & George! The kids, Callum & Ashlen (Helen’s) and Stef & Tessa (Kali’s) come and go – as kids do at their age! … but when they are all here, we have the BEST parties!!!!
“I feel so privileged to have had the opportunity to be a part of BlackJaQ’s success and look forward to ‘how many years did Jess say????!!!!”
